Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Category Growth Strategy: Drive the overall marketplace growth of the assigned product category, maintaining a sharp focus on consumer preferences, market trends, and competitive landscape.
- P&L Ownership: Take full ownership of the profit & loss (P&L) for the relevant category, ensuring alignment with broader business goals. This includes direct responsibility for achieving revenue targets and optimizing gross margins.
- Merchandising & Assortment Planning: Lead merchandising efforts, execute comprehensive assortment planning, and develop detailed option plans both pre-season and in-season to ensure the category is optimally represented across all sales channels.
- Market Trend Analysis: Proactively identify broader market trends, consumer shifts, and emerging opportunities to fill category gaps and introduce new, relevant products or services.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate effectively and coordinate seamlessly with various internal functions, including marketing, supply chain, cataloging, finance/commercial, and other relevant departments to achieve category objectives.
- Operational Oversight: Supervise and monitor merchandising operations, inbound planning, cataloging processes, and discount monitoring, leveraging prior experience or strong foundational knowledge to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Marketing & Promotion Management: Strategically drive visibility plans and promotional campaigns for the category, coordinating closely between the marketing team and the category team to ensure successful execution and maximum impact.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in driving marketplace growth for a specific category.
- Demonstrated ability to manage P&L responsibilities, including revenue targets and gross margins.
- Expertise in merchandising, assortment planning, and option planning (pre-season and in-season).
- Strong analytical skills for identifying broader market trends and category gaps.
- Excellent cross-functional coordination abilities with departments like marketing, supply chain, cataloging, and finance/commercial.
- Prior experience or strong knowledge in managing merchandising operations, inbound planning, cataloging monitoring, and discount monitoring.
- Capability to drive visibility plans and marketing promotions, and coordinate between marketing and category teams.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
