We are seeking a highly experienced Business Head - Power Electronics to provide commercial, people, and organizational leadership for our Power Electronics design house. This senior-level role requires a professional with a minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in designing EV-related power electronic products, a deep understanding of industry standards, and a proven ability to lead and mentor high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead the Power Electronics engineering team in designing, developing, and optimizing products such as inverters, DC-DC converters, motor controllers, and energy storage systems.
  • Define engineering strategies aligned with the company's vision and emerging trends in automotive and EV technologies.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.

Product Design & Development

  • Oversee the end-to-end development of power electronics systems, focusing on high-performance, cost-effective, and scalable solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61800, and other relevant functional safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, production, quality, supply chain) to ensure seamless integration and execution of projects from concept to production.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, cost control, and performance alignment with customer specifications.
  • Develop project plans, allocate resources, and provide regular progress updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks through strategic planning and problem-solving approaches.

Innovation and Research

  • Drive innovation in power electronics by exploring new technologies (e.g., SiC/GaN semiconductors, wide bandgap devices) to improve system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Initiate and oversee R&D initiatives to expand the product portfolio, focusing on EV applications and emerging automotive technologies.
  • Maintain strong relationships with research institutions, industry bodies, and technical partners to stay at the forefront of technological developments.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all designs meet stringent automotive quality standards, including ISO, UL, and RoHS certifications.
  • Lead rigorous validation and testing processes to ensure product reliability, longevity, and compliance with global automotive standards.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives and failure analysis to maintain high-quality standards across the product lifecycle.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with product management, sales, and customer support teams to understand market needs and ensure engineering solutions meet customer requirements.
  • Serve as a key technical representative in client meetings and presentations, providing expert guidance and addressing technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to identify and engage with suppliers of critical components (e.g., semiconductors, magnetics, thermal solutions).

Cost Optimization & Vendor Management

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through design optimization, strategic sourcing, and value engineering.
  • Collaborate with procurement and vendor teams to ensure the availability of high-quality components at competitive prices.
  • Evaluate and approve new suppliers and manufacturing partners to maintain product quality and supply chain efficiency.

Skills Required

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field (PhD is a plus).
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in power electronics engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally in the automotive industry.
  • Strong expertise in designing and developing power electronics systems for electric vehicles, including DC-DC converters, inverters, and motor controllers.
  • Familiarity with key automotive industry standards such as ISO 26262 and IEC 61800.
  • Hands-on experience with power electronics design tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Altium, Cadence) and mathematical modeling/simulation software.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage complex, high-stakes projects within time and budget constraints.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
