Business Analyst, Payment Risk Analytics

The Payment Risk team continuously evolves to proactively identify and neutralize emerging fraud threats, maintaining the integrity of transactions across Amazon's vast e-commerce platform. As a Business Analyst in Payment Risk Analytics, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing terabytes of data to identify and resolve risks, improve operations, and deliver valuable insights to the business.

Responsibilities:

As a Business Analyst in the Payment Risk Analytics team, your key responsibilities will include:

• Operational Understanding: Gain a deep understanding of the various operations within Payment Risk to better support data-driven decisions and operational improvements.
• Data Visualization & Metrics:
• Design and develop highly available dashboards and performance metrics using SQL and data visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Visualize processed data, identifying trends, anomalies, and actionable insights that inform operational and business improvements.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders:
• Work closely with internal stakeholders including business teams, engineering teams, and partner teams to align data-driven solutions with operational goals.
• Translate business requirements into data sources, dashboards, and reports.
• Metrics Delivery & Improvement:
• Own the delivery of periodic operational and business metrics to leadership.
• Conduct business analysis to identify improvement opportunities and align data projects with business goals.
• Execute high-priority cross-functional projects to improve operations performance, working closely with Operations Analytics managers.
• Advanced Analytical Techniques:
• Apply analytical methods (such as regression, ANOVA, forecasting, and machine learning techniques) to derive insights and support decision-making processes.
• Data Analysis & Reporting:
• Analyze large datasets using SQL and appropriate tools, delivering insights that drive risk mitigation strategies and operational improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience:
• At least 1 year of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
• At least 2 years of experience writing complex Excel VBA macros.
• Skills:
• Strong proficiency in SQL or ETL tools.
• Experience with reporting and data visualization tools such as QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI, or other Business Intelligence (BI) platforms.
• Education:
• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Analytical Skills:
• Ability to define requirements and use data and metrics to draw meaningful business insights.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience:
• Experience working with very large datasets.
