Biomedical Engineer - Laboratory Projects

Job Purpose

The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for installation, commissioning, maintenance, and technical support of laboratory equipment across project sites in the Chhattisgarh region. The role ensures optimal equipment performance, compliance with safety and quality standards, and effective coordination with vendors and laboratory teams.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Installation & Commissioning

• Install, test, and commission laboratory and diagnostic equipment as per project scope
• Ensure equipment setup complies with manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers during delivery and installation

Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

• Perform preventive maintenance as per defined schedules
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment breakdowns in a timely manner
• Maintain service logs, calibration records, and maintenance documentation

Technical Support & Training

• Provide on-site technical support to laboratory staff
• Conduct basic user training on equipment operation and safety
• Assist in implementation of new technologies and upgrades

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to biomedical equipment safety norms, NABL/ISO standards, and biosafety guidelines
• Support audits, inspections, and quality assessments
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety, calibration, and validation requirements

Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with Lab Coordinators, Project Coordinators, and district health officials
• Liaise with OEMs and service providers for warranty and AMC services
• Prepare and submit equipment status and maintenance reports

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering
• (B.E. / B.Tech – Biomedical Engineering)
• Diploma holders with strong relevant experience may be considered

Experience

• 2–5 years of experience in handling laboratory or medical equipment
• Experience with diagnostic equipment such as biochemistry analyzers, hematology analyzers, immunoassay systems, microbiology equipment, centrifuges, ELISA readers, PCR systems etc. will be preferred
• Experience in government healthcare or public health projects is an added advantage

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of laboratory and diagnostic equipment
• Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of preventive maintenance and calibration practices
• Good documentation and reporting skills
• Ability to work independently in field conditions
• Willingness to travel extensively within the Chhattisgarh region

Language Requirements

• Hindi – Mandatory
• English – Working proficiency
• Knowledge of local dialects – Advantage
