BFSI | Car loan | Collection Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management:

• Oversee the collections and recovery process for the assigned car loan portfolio across various delinquency buckets (early to late stage).
• Monitor portfolio health, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to reduce NPAs and improve recovery rates.

Team Leadership:

• Lead and mentor a team of collection officers and field agents.
• Allocate targets, monitor performance, and conduct periodic reviews and training sessions.

Strategy & Execution:

• Develop and implement effective collection strategies tailored for car loan customers.
• Coordinate with legal, repossession, and external agencies for recovery and enforcement activities.
• Negotiate settlements and restructure cases where applicable.

Compliance & Reporting:

• Ensure all collections activities comply with RBI guidelines, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely MIS reports on collection performance and recovery metrics.
• Report to senior management with actionable insights and escalation of high-risk accounts.

Cross-Functional Coordination:

• Work closely with credit, sales, operations, and legal teams to address customer issues and streamline recovery processes.
• Facilitate smooth handover of accounts to external agencies or legal for further action.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong understanding of car loan products, collections lifecycle, and recovery techniques.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in managing field collection teams and third-party agencies.
• Analytical mindset with proficiency in MS Excel and collections management software.
• Knowledge of legal recovery processes such as SARFAESI Act, Lok Adalat, etc., is a plus.
