Backup Implementation Engineer

• Install, configure, and implement Veritas NetBackup and Flex Appliances in client environments.
• Conduct health checks, performance tuning, patch management, and upgrades of backup infrastructure.
• Define and implement backup and recovery policies, including SLA-based retention strategies.
• Integrate NetBackup with various OS platforms, applications (e.g., Oracle, SQL, Exchange), and cloud targets.
• Perform capacity planning and ensure sufficient storage for backup jobs.
• Troubleshoot backup failures, job delays, and media issues and provide timely resolution.
• Prepare technical documentation, runbooks, and implementation reports.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and application teams for seamless deployments.
• Provide training or handover sessions to operations/support teams post-deployment.
• Adhere to ITIL practices such as Change Management and Incident Management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup (v8.x and above).
• Experience with Veritas Flex Appliances (configuration, maintenance, upgrades).
• Good understanding of backup architecture, SAN/NAS integration, and enterprise storage.
• Proficiency in managing backup policies for virtual environments (VMware/Hyper-V).
• Experience with cloud-based backups (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) is a plus.
• Strong scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation is desirable.
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server environments.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and backup job scheduling tools.
