Responsibility Expectations from the role:

Must-Have:

• Developing knowledge of data backup and restoration methodologies
• Developing knowledge of, but not limited to MMC consoles, event viewer, Developing FTP file transfers, user permissions, and service management within Microsoft Windows Server and/or the ability to (but not limited to) navigate file systems, editing with vi, identify running services and processes, SSH and FTP, file permissions, and Developing network troubleshooting tools within red hat Linux
• Developing knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, Email and networking
• Developing general understanding of databases including Microsoft SQL and MySQL
• Developing knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting, testing, and performance tuning in Storage platforms
• Developing knowledge of storage best practices for current VMware, Windows and Linux operation systems, File systems, SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and Exchange
• Developing working knowledge of Networking, Fiber Channel concepts, and technologies
• Basic understanding of patching - documents changes based on requests for change
• Basic ability to apply change control procedures
• Basic ability to perform cross platform troubleshooting tasks
• Basic working knowledge of virtualization and/or cloud technologies e.g., VMWARE, Hyper-V, KVM and/or OpenStack
• Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/ scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities
• Understands how the team integrates with others to accomplish the team objectives

Good-to-Have

• RAC knowledge
• Requires entry level industry standard certification
• Prefer A+ and/or Network+ certifications

Role descriptions / Expectations from the Role :

Responsible for the level support of backup software VERITAS backup, Veeam, Arcserve, and Commvault platforms.

Works in a large mixed environment of both Windows and Linux servers.

Ability to manage multiple tape libraries of backup infrastructure.

Understands and has excellent knowledge and skills to troubleshoot backup software issues, tape issues, and storage issues.

Needs to be proficient in policies and schedules, can create policies, and work with defined schedules is a must.

Must thoroughly understand backup software through the command line and through the GUI.

Must understand Linux and Windows commands and understand how to troubleshoot backup issues on both Windows servers and Linux servers.

Must follow established company processes, including change management, incident management, and problem management processes.

Experience in Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems, shell, or PowerShell scripting, and developing operational reports.

Escalate backup issues when necessary, including opening support cases with OEM.

Understanding of patching and up-gradation of backup software.

Resolve or escalate level-appropriate technical issues for customers in accordance with team playbook guidelines via phone and ticketing.

Perform provisioning, expansion, and decommissioning of customer storage across single and multi-tenant arrays.

Respond to requests for basic or procedural information.

Perform basic hardware break fix.

Troubleshoot monitoring alerts and create tickets accordingly.
