Automotive Mechanical Engineer with Li-Ion Battery Pack CFD simulation
Job Description
Mechanical Engineer experience in Li-Ion Battery Pack CFD simulations. (with automotive background)
EDUCATION:
• BE/B.TECH in Mechanical Engineering/equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
• 5 to 7 Years of experience in Mechanical CFD simulations preferably having experience in automotive background.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Analyze the customer requirements, standards, product requirements and prepare detailed CFD simulation specification.
• CFD simulation of Battery pack assembly – Heat Transfer Simulation considering fluid-solid bodies, considering thin components (e.g. 0.03mm thickness), Ohmic heating, using StarCCM.
• Independently able to choose relevant physics for the given problem.
• Meshing to be done in StarCCM. (experience in surface correction required to be done in StarCCM)
• Perform 1D calculations before doing heat transfer analysis in StarCCM to confirm the simulation results.
• Understand the simulation to be performed and set the judgement criteria for the analysis. Able to support the physics with strong theoretical knowledge in CFD.
• Experience in Fluid Solid Interaction analysis.
• Experience in cell chemistry analysis using COMSOL or GT-Suite preferably.
• Prepare a detailed report for the analysis showing the Inputs received, Boundary Conditions considered for analysis, Material Details considered for analysis, detailed results, Result summary table showing OK/NG against Judgement criteria, convergence graph achieved, calculations done to support the analysis.
• Estimation of effort and planning for CFD Analysis.
• Heat transfer analysis on PCB with copper trace using FlowTherm. (considering ohmic heating, heat generation points on PCB, etc.)
• Plan/strategize for the required analysis for analytical verification of concepts.
SKILLSETS:
• Experience in executing the Automotive project as per process standard – IATF16949
• Expertise in StarCCM, FlowTherm, COMSOL, GT-Suite and good theoretical and practical knowledge in CFD simulation.
• Experience in 1D analysis for heat transfer problems.
• Exposure in thermal cooling simulation techniques.
• Knowledge in material selection based on various properties.
• Able to co-relate the simulation results with actual validation results.
• Knowledge of automotive & Li-Ion Battery test and regulatory standards – ISO, IEC, UN
