Job Description
The Associate – Materials & Stores is responsible for the effective management and oversight of materials and inventory within the organization. They ensure that the necessary materials and supplies are available to meet operational demands, optimize costs, and maintain inventory accuracy. The role involves close collaboration with various departments, suppliers, and vendors to streamline procurement, storage, and distribution processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Procurement & Supplier Management:
- Identify material requirements based on production schedules and operational needs.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source and procure materials according to organizational needs.
- Evaluate supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and ensure competitive pricing for materials.
- Monitor market trends and conduct research to identify new suppliers and materials, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
Inventory Management:
- Develop and implement inventory control procedures to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory levels, track usage patterns, and forecast future material requirements based on production needs.
- Coordinate with production, logistics, and other departments to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Perform regular physical inventory counts and reconcile variances between physical stock and system records.
- Optimize inventory levels by implementing strategies that balance carrying costs and material availability.
- Oversee the receipt, inspection, and proper storage of incoming materials to prevent damage and ensure quality compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in materials management, procurement, or inventory control.
- Strong understanding of inventory control systems and supply chain processes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for supplier management.
- Ability to analyze data, forecast material needs, and optimize inventory.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
