Job Description
The Assistant Professor – Forensic Medicine will be responsible for teaching forensic medicine to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, conducting research, and providing forensic expertise in medical and legal cases. This role also involves actively contributing to the department's academic and research activities and supporting medico-legal services for the hospital or institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching & Training:
- Conduct lectures, seminars, and practical sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students on forensic medicine, medical law, and ethics.
- Supervise students during clinical rotations, guiding them in the practical application of forensic principles.
- Evaluate student performance, provide feedback, and contribute to the academic development of students.
- Prepare course materials, curricula, and exams, ensuring they are up to date with the latest developments in forensic medicine.
- Research & Academic Contributions:
- Conduct research in forensic medicine, including studies on postmortem changes, trauma, medico-legal aspects, and death investigations.
- Publish research papers, case studies, and academic articles in peer-reviewed journals.
- Participate in academic conferences, workshops, and seminars, contributing to the development of the field.
- Assist in academic and departmental audits, curriculum reviews, and quality control measures.
- Medico-Legal Services:
- Provide expert opinions in legal matters related to forensic medicine, including postmortem examinations, medico-legal investigations, and injury assessments.
- Act as a medico-legal expert in court when required, offering testimony and evidence in criminal or civil cases.
- Perform postmortem autopsies and provide detailed reports for legal authorities.
- Advise law enforcement agencies and legal professionals on the interpretation of forensic findings in criminal cases.
- Administrative & Departmental Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management and development of the forensic medicine department, including budgeting, resources, and staff.
- Participate in hospital or institutional committees related to research, ethics, and academic progress.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and forensic reports in accordance with legal standards.
