Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Assistant Manager - Mechanical to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliable operation of all process and utility equipment, with a focus on achieving zero breakdowns, zero defects, and zero accidents. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a process or chemical industry and will be responsible for leading a team, implementing best practices like 5S and TPM, and driving continuous improvement in all maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Operations: Oversee the operation and maintenance of process and utility equipment during shifts. Conduct preventive, predictive, and breakdown mechanical maintenance, ensuring all records are meticulously kept.
  • Performance & Efficiency: Focus on the continuous reduction of downtime and waste minimization. Prepare daily and monthly reports on maintenance activities and downtime.
  • Problem-Solving: Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for breakdowns, initiating corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Asset & Inventory Management: Maintain detailed equipment history records and perform Life Cycle Analysis of critical equipment. Work to reduce inventory by standardizing and ensuring the interchangeability of spares.
  • Team Leadership: Train and develop team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and safety.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to EHS policies and compliance with standards such as ISO 9000, ISO-14000, OHSAS-18000, and TPM. Implement 5S principles throughout the plant and office.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in process, chemical, or fine chemical industries.

Skills

  • Technical Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with equipment used in chemical process plants or batch processes, including glass-lined equipment and mechanical seals.
  • Systems Knowledge: Knowledge of DCS/PLC-based control systems.
  • Methodology & Standards: Conceptual knowledge of ISO, WCM, Six Sigma, and MAXIMO.
  • EHS: A thorough understanding of safety standards, the use of PPEs, and an awareness of Responsible Care principles.
  • Utilities: Basic knowledge of industrial utilities, including refrigeration, steam, and cooling towers.
