Job Description

An Area Sales Manager for an agri-business is responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to meet targets within a specific region. Key duties include managing a sales team, expanding the distribution network of dealers and distributors, promoting products to farmers and retailers, and building relationships with key stakeholders. The role requires a strong understanding of agricultural products and markets, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to perform analysis and reporting. 

Key responsibilities

  • Sales strategy and execution: Develop and execute sales plans to achieve or exceed sales targets for the assigned area.
  • Team management: Lead, motivate, train, and assess a team of sales executives to ensure they meet company objectives.
  • Network development: Build and expand the distribution network through dealers, distributors, and cooperative societies.
  • Customer engagement: Promote agricultural products directly to farmers, agri-retailers, and institutional buyers through field activities and promotional campaigns.
  • Market analysis: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to inform strategy and pricing.
  • Relationship building: Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, distributors, dealers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Inventory and logistics: Manage stock, ensure proper allocation, and coordinate with logistics to manage inventory efficiently.
  • Reporting: Track sales performance, analyze data, and prepare reports for management.
