Job Description

An Area Sales Manager in banking is responsible for achieving sales targets within a specific geographic area by leading and managing a sales team. Key duties include developing and implementing sales strategies, recruiting and training staff, building customer and agency relationships, monitoring team performance, and ensuring the quality of the sales portfolio. A strong understanding of banking products, financial analysis, and excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills are essential for this role.

Key responsibilities

  • Sales target achievement: Meeting or exceeding sales goals for the assigned region, which can include volume and profit targets.
  • Team management: Recruiting, training, guiding, and motivating a team of sales executives or officers to achieve performance levels.
  • Strategy development: Creating and implementing strategies to achieve business objectives and expand market presence by acquiring new customers.
  • Market analysis: Mapping business potential in the area, analyzing sales data, and identifying new opportunities for sales calls or activities.
  • Relationship management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, business heads, and key stakeholders, including third-party agencies.
  • Performance monitoring: Reviewing performance reports, monitoring team and individual performance, and conducting field visits for high-value proposals.
  • Operations and compliance: Ensuring smooth operations, managing early-stage loan defaults through soft recovery, and ensuring all systems and processes comply with regulations.
