Job Description
Global New Product Development (NPD), Advanced Development (AD) and Product Purchasing:
- Work under Global Direct Purchasing function to develop/source - BOM/RM parts, lead sourcing, alternate sourcing, vendor development activities
- Lead development of new products and suppliers for the assigned categories/commodities and own the NPD process from RFP/RFQ to product launch/SOP through Sourcing VAVE/APQP/PPAP processes
- Lead global and/or domestic AD and CPD projects
Costing Expertise:
- Prepare and run ZBC, Should Cost models and understand key cost drivers for sustainable cost reduction
Cost Management:
- Conduct costing negotiations with suppliers
- Identify cost saving opportunities/projects and implement cost reduction ideas
Technical Process Expertise/Process Improvement:
- Develop tooling capabilities minimizing supply and technical risks
- Support sourcing by identifying and assessing potential suppliers, participating in internal/external reviews
- Receive techno-commercial offers and prepare quote syntheses for stakeholder review
- Prepare purchase orders and amendments in SAP
Sourcing and Vendor Development (VD):
- Own qualification and verification testing at supplier end; ensure part approvals
- Coordinate PPAP runs and part availability
- Assess supplier capability and plan capacity/tool duplication
- Raise price revision requests as needed
- Support VAVE activities and apply tools like FMEA, VAVE, PPAP for optimization
- Participate in risk assessment and coordinate design/manufacturing alignment
- Evaluate cost reduction or quality improvement opportunities
- Monitor costing/value engineering impacts
Vendor Management:
- Understand supplier risks and execute mitigation plans
- Conduct audits using Supplier Capability Assessments, Control Plan Audits, etc.
Relationship Management:
- Act as Kohler ambassador, bridge technical gaps
- Report results and recommendations to leadership
- Ensure on-time deliveries through coordination with Production Control, 3PL, and Customers
Follow and Enforce Global Procurement Policy:
- Understand and enforce procurement policies and procedures
Standard Operating Process (SOP) Setup:
- Continuously improve purchasing processes by eliminating non-value-added activities
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships
- Forecast growth opportunities and build future-ready capabilities
- Engage in global purchasing support enhancement projects
Experience Requirement:
Must have:
- 5+ years in Direct Purchasing, Sourcing, NPD, Vendor Development
- Strong ZBC and Should Costing model experience
- Costing expertise in Electronics, Electrical, Plastics (Injection Molding, PCB, PCBA, Casting), and Metal commodities
- Understanding of VAVE/APQP/PPAP processes, Process Control Plans, GDT, DFMEA, PFMEA
- Experience in reading/interpreting drawings and managing tooling/time plans
- Hands-on experience in global sourcing/cost reduction/standardization projects
- Knowledge of domestic/overseas supplier bases
- Proficient in reporting, data analysis, and leadership presentations
Skill Sets:
- Strong English communication
- Team leadership and familiarity with global cross-functional culture
- Strong organizational/project management skills
- Proficient in MS Office and SAP MM Module
Other Requirements:
- Domestic/international travel as required
Educational Qualification Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in any engineering stream
Organizational Relationships:
- Reports to DM - Purchasing
- Regular interactions with global purchasing, suppliers, stakeholders
Other Details:
- Shift flexibility: 6am–3:30pm, 3pm–11:30pm, or standard Indian hours (subject to change)
