Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead PPAP submissions (Levels 1–5) for aerospace electromechanical parts, ensuring full compliance with AS9102, AS9145, and customer-specific requirements.
- Review and validate PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, Process Capability and Measurement System Analyses (MSA).
- Conduct and verify First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102 for complex subassemblies and systems.
- Interface with suppliers, engineering, and manufacturing teams on new product introductions (NPI), technology/product transfers, and production readiness.
- Execute PPAP and quality planning activities across a wide array of electromechanical components and systems, including:
- Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (SMT, Through-Hole, Hybrid)
- Cables & Harnesses, Electromechanical Box Builds
- Cockpit Avionics, In-Flight Entertainment (IFE), Electronic Controls, Power Distribution Systems
- Motor Drives, Controllers, Embedded Software Interfaces
- Sensors, Regulators, Flow Control Devices, Actuators, Cylinders, Valves, Fuel Nozzles
- Landing Systems and Controls, Environmental Control Systems (ECS)
- EMI/EMC Solutions: Gaskets, Paints, Adhesives, Sealants, Foil Tapes, Cable Wraps, Air Ventilation Panels
- Conductive Materials: Inks, Greases, Laminates, Molded Plastics, Plastic Pellets
- Microwave Absorbers, Ferrite Chokes, Heat Shrink Tubing
- Aerospace Pumps, Reservoirs, Tanks, Filters, Integrated Structures
- Support EMI/EMC compliance testing and documentation with internal labs or third-party agencies.
- Drive supplier development, perform capability assessments, and lead root cause analysis (8D, DMAIC) for quality issues.
- Maintain detailed and traceable PPAP and FAI records in compliance with aerospace QMS standards (AS9100D, AS9145).
- Track project status and metrics, ensuring timely delivery of qualified parts and systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience with PPAP, FAI, and quality engineering in the aerospace or defense industry.
- In-depth experience with aerospace electromechanical assemblies, PCBA, and harness builds.
- Familiarity with aviation systems including avionics, IFE, power management, environmental controls, and landing gear systems.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, GD&T, and working with measurement tools.
- Knowledge of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, AS9102, AS9145) and regulatory documentation requirements.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
